The X5 Group and VkusVill chains have removed the Kartoshka cake from sale due to scandalous photos from the Mozhaisk Confectionery House production facility.
Photos published online showed unsanitary conditions at the plant.
After this, stores immediately blocked deliveries of the product, writes RBC .
X5 stated that the health of its customers always comes first and refused to supply MKD products.
VkusVill also confirmed that sales had been suspended following unacceptable conditions at the production facility.
Last year, VkusVill repeatedly tested MKD products and found no safety issues.
In August, the manufacturer underwent another audit. No sanitary violations were found then either.
The chain emphasized that if the information about unsanitary conditions at the production facility is confirmed, it will refuse to cooperate with MKD forever."
VkusVill also promised to strengthen control over the quality of goods through unscheduled inspections.
