VTB has compiled a list of the most popular fraudulent schemes, which the RBC portal has reviewed.
The first method is to use fake websites that are outwardly identical to popular marketplaces. The main goal is to steal bank account data and steal money for non-existent goods.
Also, in the run-up to sales, a widespread scheme involves sending out fake promotional offers or pre-orders of goods with a huge discount. The purpose of using this method is also to steal funds.
The third scheme is to leak information about discounts into messengers, including closed channels. Messages often contain links where users download malicious files instead of promo codes.
After installing such applications, users give scammers access to their bank accounts without their knowledge.
