The first cases of infection with the new variant of the XEC coronavirus have been detected in Russia.
These cases were recorded in the Rostov region and in Ufa.
Rospotrebnadzor is constantly monitoring the situation with SARS-CoV-2 variants circulating in Russia.
Thanks to this, two cases of COVID-19 related to the XEC variant were identified, TASS reports.
The XEC variant is a recombinant version of the virus.
According to Rospotrebnadzor, the symptoms of HEC are similar to other recent subvariants of omicron.
The main symptoms include headache, fatigue, runny nose, cough, loss of appetite and smell, sore throat.
To protect against the disease during periods of increased incidence, Rospotrebnadzor recommends regular hand washing, airing out rooms, limiting contact with sick people, and wearing masks.
In Russia, over 36 thousand cases of COVID-19 have been registered in the 38th week of this year.
The situation with the new variant of COVID-19 – XEC in the Russian Federation remains under the control of Rospotrebnadzor.
