The State Duma has proposed introducing fees on businesses for using foreign software

It has become known about measures that may soon be taken against representatives of Russian business.

The State Duma intends to introduce a new bill, according to which companies will be required to pay fees for the use of foreign software.

The head of the Ministry of Digital Development, Maksut Shadayev, told RIA Novosti journalists about this.

The Minister of Digital Development, Communications and Mass Media was asked whether the ministry was developing a project to introduce payment for the use of software that was created abroad.

As Shadayev noted, his department is developing the relevant bill together with the Ministry of Finance.

It is expected that the completed bill will be submitted for consideration in September.

Shadayev also spoke about what kind of business owners will be affected by the innovation. According to him, the changes will not affect companies that are small and medium-sized businesses in Russia.

According to preliminary plans, payments for the use of foreign software will be directed to a special fund that will provide support to domestic developers.
