It is reported that the discussion concerns, in particular, a simplified procedure.
The amendment increases the relevant terms from two to three years, as reported by TASS .
The head of the State Duma committee, Leonid Kalashnikov, commented on this initiative as follows: “This regulatory legal act was drafted by the Chairman of the State Duma, Vyacheslav Volodin, and me.”
Position of the State Duma
According to the official, the project aims to minimize the likelihood of fictitious marriages with foreign citizens.
It is emphasized that a residence permit is issued in a simplified manner to foreign citizens who permanently reside in the Russian Federation and are raising a child with Russian citizenship.
In this case, the second parent must also have a Russian passport, and the marriage with a foreigner must be legally confirmed.
In this case, the marriage must last at least three years from the moment the foreigner applies for a residence permit.
