The State Duma has proposed introducing a new ban concerning single fathers.
Parliamentarians have come forward with an initiative to impose a ban on the arrest of men who are raising children under 14 years of age.
This bill was approved in the first reading, RIA Novosti reports.
The authors of the initiative were Pavel Krasheninnikov, Irina Pankina and Artem Metelev.
Parliamentarians have proposed to supplement the Code of Administrative Offences. According to the authors of the initiative, single fathers should be exempted from administrative arrest.
Men raising children under the age of 14 or having disabled children in their care will be able to count on a relaxation.
It is noted that similar legislation already exists, but it can only be applied to single mothers for now.
Moreover, if a single father is arrested, the child who is dependent on him is left without a breadwinner for the duration of his detention.
