The head of the State Duma Committee on Labor, Social Policy, and Veterans' Affairs proposes to punish the use of deepfake technology under the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation.
The document provides for a fine of up to 1.5 million rubles or imprisonment for up to two years for using the image or voice of the victim.
According to the initiative, actions using the image, voice, or data of the victim will be punishable by a fine or restriction of freedom.
In case of fraud using this technology, a fine of up to 400 thousand rubles or imprisonment for up to six years is provided.
Nilov calls for the punishment of fraudsters who use the voice and images of citizens according to the law.
