The opinion of the Russian Orthodox Church regarding the possible introduction of a childlessness tax in Russia has become known.

Representatives of the Russian church believe that such a proposal is nothing more than a provocation.

This opinion was voiced in a conversation with RIA Novosti by priest Fyodor Lukyanov, who represents the Russian Orthodox Church commission that deals with issues of motherhood and childhood.

Let us recall that earlier there were rumors about the possible introduction of a tax on childlessness. This initiative has already been condemned by the Chairman of the State Duma Vyacheslav Volodin.

According to Lukyanov, these provocations are primarily aimed against the adoption of the law banning childfree people. Such statements are needed only to provoke a negative attitude towards the institution of the traditional family.

Therefore, the efforts of some deputies, noted the representative of the Russian Orthodox Church, look like work that weakens Russia’s sovereignty.

Therefore, Lukyanov summed up, efforts to protect against destructive subcultures and movements are correct practice, helping to protect traditional values and Russian society.
