State Duma deputy Alexander Khinshtein announced a new initiative coming into force.
A statement on this topic appeared in the Telegram channel of the Chairman of the State Duma Committee on Information Policy.
By the end of 2024, a new rule will come into effect in Russia that concerns car license plates.
In fact, the authorities will remove the option that allowed not to indicate the country's flag on state license plates. For this, car owners paid an extra 300-500 rubles when ordering a number.
Now the presence of the tricolor in the lower right corner of the number will become mandatory, informed the chairman of the State Duma committee, Khinshtein.
The parliamentarian noted that he promoted this initiative after a citizen’s request.
The Russian noted that the ability to not indicate the country's flag on a car number is a "loophole" for those who hate their country.
Khinshtein agreed with this position and addressed the Ministry of Internal Affairs with a corresponding proposal. The department prepared an amendment to the GOST. By the end of this year, the requirement will officially come into force.
