The State Duma continues to work on laws related to combating the growing number of crimes committed by migrants.
On July 23, the lower house of parliament may consider in a second reading amendments related to the regime for the expulsion of foreign criminals.
TASS reports that the period of detention of migrants and stateless persons who are subject to administrative expulsion from the Russian Federation by decision of the police in special institutions will be no more than two days.
But a judge's ruling may extend this period to 90 days. For example, officials from the Ministry of Internal Affairs or the FSB may petition for this.
This procedure is provided for by the bill, which gives the police the right to expel migrants and stateless persons from Russia.
If the initiative is approved, it will come into force six months after publication, and not 90 days later, as was indicated in the draft adopted in the first reading.
