In Russia they want to tighten control over the birth of children outside medical institutions.
The Ministry of Internal Affairs proposes amendments to the Family Code and the federal law on civil status acts.
The head of the main department of economic security and anti-corruption of the ministry, Andrey Kurnosenko, told TASS about the details of the initiative.
The adjustments are proposed with the aim of improving the procedure for state registration of the birth of children.
According to Kurnosenko, the measure will help prevent the theft of budget funds.
He explained that the initiative was dictated by the realities of the operational situation in the country.
The head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs department noted that hundreds of cases of unjustified receipt of social benefits and maternity capital funds for unborn children have been identified in Russia.
The damage to the budget, as emphasized, amounts to approximately 1 billion rubles.
The head of the department said that the birth of children outside maternity hospitals cannot serve as confirmation of the fact of the child’s birth.
