Representatives of the Ministry of Emergency Situations spoke about the situation in Kuban.
As potential tourists were reassured, there is currently no widespread pollution in the region.
The head of the Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations, Alexander Kurenkov, gave this comment to the TASS agency.
Let us recall that on December 15, two tankers carrying fuel oil sank in the Kerch Strait. As a result, oil products ended up in the water and began to spread rapidly across the region.
Despite this, Kurenkov assured that the situation is under the control of his department.
In particular, relevant work is being carried out on the beach area to eliminate the consequences of the man-made disaster.
The head of the Ministry of Emergency Situations emphasized that there is no widespread pollution in Kuban, therefore, the upcoming beach season should take place as scheduled, and there is no question of its cancellation.
Currently, coastal cleanup work is underway at a distance of 54 kilometers. About 23.5 thousand tons of contaminated sand and soil have already been removed from Kuban.
