The country cares about the safety of its citizens, especially in the summer, when the risk of people dying in the water increases.
In this case, we will talk about statistics of people who died on the water since the beginning of 2024.
Since this year, over 1,600 people have died in water bodies in the Russian Federation, including over 200 children. RIA Novosti reports details with reference to the head of the Russian Emergencies Ministry, Alexander Kurenkov.
It is noted that most of the water-related tragedies occur in the summer, especially on Saturdays and Sundays, when people go to bodies of water.
Kurenkov clarified that, compared to 2023, the number of deaths in 2024 has increased.
According to him, tragedies are often caused by violations of safety rules, leaving children unattended, and swimming in places that are not intended for swimming.
In connection with the occurrence of tragic incidents, he called for measures to be taken to ensure the safety of people on water bodies.
It is added that the total number of incidents that have occurred on the water since the beginning of summer has amounted to 1,238. In them, 1,056 citizens died, including 187 minors.
