The Ministry of Economic Development has spoken out about the idea of levying a fee on tourists who travel abroad.
According to the Ministry of Economic Development, this proposal is crude and unfinished.
This statement was made by Deputy Head of the Ministry of Economic Development Dmitry Vakhrukov on the sidelines of the St. Petersburg International Tourism Forum “Travel Hub. Travel!”, his words are reported by RIA Novosti .
We are talking about the proposal of the President of the Russian Union of Travel Industry Ilya Umansky. He proposed to introduce a fee from the tourists themselves instead of personal liability of travel agencies.
According to the head of the department, this fee should not exceed 100 rubles from each trip and should be sent to a special state fund. The funds from this account can be used in the event of bankruptcy of the tour operator.
However, as Vakhrukov explained, it is too early to talk about creating such a fund, since the proposal put forward is too crude and ill-conceived, therefore, there is no talk of discussing it yet.
