The Ministry of Digital Development has been contacted with a warning to Russians.
In 2024, several websites were discovered that were duplicates of the official website of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
RIA Novosti reports this with reference to a statement made by Deputy Head of the Ministry of Digital Development of the Russian Federation Dmitry Ugnivenko at the Spectrum-2024 forum.
Ugnivenko explained how this scheme works.
The victim receives a notice of the need to pay a fine allegedly received from the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
To do this, a person tries to enter the site, but the scammers artificially complicate the transition process. The victim begins to suspect that his device is blocked, and in order to unblock it, the person needs to transfer money.
Moreover, if the specified amount is not paid, the victim may be threatened with deletion of all files on the phone and criminal prosecution.
Another scheme is to create websites that are copies of official resources. If the victim gets to them and calls the numbers listed there, they are answered by scammers who have no connection with law enforcement agencies.
