In Russia, new rules for issuing sick leave certificates will come into force on September 1, 2025.
According to State Duma deputy Alexei Kurinny, the reasons for introducing new restrictions are related to the abuse of their quantity.
The new rules will reduce the number of cases where sick leave is issued out of necessity, the article in Gazeta.ru emphasizes.
This is not about the maximum duration of sick leave, the deputy emphasized.
He explained that the period that a doctor can issue alone remains important.
In general, a sick leave is opened for 10 days. However, if a person is often ill, then after 3 days there should be a medical commission created for an objective assessment.
The protective measure is aimed against those who may actually abuse the number of sick leaves.
Kurinny said that, as practice shows, there are cases of issuing them out of necessity, although this is a criminal offense.
