The Federation Council Committee on Constitutional Legislation has voiced recommendations regarding the expulsion of foreign citizens and stateless persons from the Russian Federation.

It is emphasized that the Federation Council recommended for approval a decree that could empower police officers within the framework of the above-mentioned issues.

Today, these powers are concentrated exclusively in the hands of judges and border service employees, as reported by RIA Novosti .

It is emphasized that the relevant document will provide similar opportunities for police officers.

The law stipulates that deported foreign citizens and stateless persons must first be placed in a special institution.

The decision to send a foreign national to a special institution is issued by the head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation, as well as the head of the territorial body of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation.

In addition, similar powers are granted to the heads of the FSB of the Russian Federation.

The detained person is placed in a special institution for 48 hours. The period may be extended.
