Senator Natalia Kosikhina expressed the need to begin punishing bloggers for disseminating fakes about the progress of counter-terrorist operations (CTO).

According to the political figure, the appropriate punishment should be determined by the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation.

Kosikhina emphasized: “I myself have encountered disinformation that is spread by Russian bloggers,” as reported by RIA Novosti .

As the senator pointed out, it is extremely important to convey to all individuals active in the Internet space the consequences of spreading fakes.

Appeal of the Federation Council

According to the political figure, unverified and baseless information on this issue should not be voiced.

Kosikhina added: "Often we are talking about information based on personal speculation. It shouldn't be like that."

The deputy also noted that the entire country is monitoring the progress of counter-terrorism operations.

Accordingly, information concerning counter-terrorist operations must be as reliable and substantiated as possible, and have a factual basis.
