Deputy Nina Ostanina spoke about the fate of the bill introducing additional payments for long marriages.
The head of the State Duma Committee on Family Protection, Fatherhood, Motherhood and Childhood Issues reported that this initiative will be supported.
The bill on financial support for spouses who have been married for 20 years or more will be revised and submitted to the lower house of parliament, RIA Novosti reports.
Ostanina assured that her committee will support the adoption of this initiative.
In her opinion, the adoption of such a law in the Year of the Family will once again emphasize the value of long-term marriage.
The parliamentarian added that she does not support the position of the government, which previously rejected the first version of the bill.
She pointed out that all Russians, regardless of their region of residence, should receive payments for being able to create a strong family.
Deputies plan to finalize the initiative by the autumn session.
