A candidate of chemical sciences spoke about the unobvious danger of body washcloths.

The comment was shared by Alexey Panov, Associate Professor of the Department of Biotechnology and Industrial Pharmacy at RTU MIREA.

In a conversation with Lenta.ru , the expert explained that using a washcloth can damage the skin’s protective barrier.

This can lead to various health problems, including allergic reactions.

Products made from natural and artificial materials can equally damage the protective function of the skin.

The expert advised not to use the washcloth too often.

This is especially true for people diagnosed with psoriasis, eczema or dermatitis. This personal hygiene product can exacerbate chronic diseases.

In addition, the scientist emphasized that it is necessary to carefully monitor the cleanliness of the washcloth.

If it is stored in a humid environment, bacteria and fungi will inevitably multiply on it. And this leads to acne and other infections.

The expert advised changing washcloths every 3-4 weeks, washing them thoroughly and drying them after use.
