Senators propose banning the production and sale of notebooks with images that violate moral and ethical standards.
The Federation Council Committee on Science, Education and Culture instructed Senator from Tver Oblast Lyudmila Skakovskaya to work on this issue.
Skakovskaya said that before the start of the school year, notebooks appeared on sale that outraged residents of Tver, TASS writes.
One of the Russian language notebooks depicted a man in a fur hat with earflaps and his tongue hanging out with the colors of the Russian flag.
This image violates the law on the state flag of the Russian Federation and all ethical standards, the senators noted.
Skakovskaya said that the notebooks were withdrawn from sale.
She also stressed the need for a more systematic approach to solving this problem.
There are technical specifications that clearly describe what the notebooks should be like, but nowhere does it say what should be depicted on the covers.
The Federation Council committee proposed to figure out what needs to be done to ensure that such notebooks no longer exist on Russian territory.
The notebooks published with unethical covers were withdrawn from sale.
However, as Skakovskaya noted, more systematic work is needed on this issue.
