The Ministry of Digital Development, Communications and Mass Media (Ministry of Digital Development, Communications and Mass Media) has come up with a new initiative.

The agency proposed confirming the purchase of a SIM card through the State Services portal.

The corresponding bill has already been developed, TASS reports.

The need to amend the rules for the provision of communication services arose against the backdrop of the adoption of the law on the purchase of SIM cards.

Confirmation of SIM card purchase will allow you to receive information about the individual subscriber.

In this way, the authorities want to strengthen the fight against fraudsters and improve the security and convenience of subscribers.

According to the new law, Russians may be required to confirm their identity when signing a contract for the provision of communications services.

To do this, you can use biometrics, an identity document, or “Gosuslugi”.

If the subscriber is not registered on this portal, he has the right to contact the competent organization authorized by the Government of the Russian Federation.

Earlier, the authorities limited the number of SIM cards that can be registered per person: for Russian citizens – up to 20, for foreigners – up to 10.
