Russia May Introduce Fines for Insulting Teachers

In Russia they want to fine teachers for publicly insulting them.

A number of State Duma deputies have put forward a corresponding initiative.

The Ministry of Education also supports the proposal for administrative liability for insulting teachers, Izvestia writes.

According to the bill, public insults to teachers will be punished with money.

Thus, for insulting a teacher while on duty, citizens will be fined up to 5-20 thousand rubles, officials - 50-100 thousand rubles, legal entities - 200-500 thousand rubles.

In the event of public insult of a teacher on the Internet, citizens will be punished with up to 10-30 thousand rubles, officials - 100-200 thousand rubles, legal entities - 500-700 thousand rubles.

The bill has been submitted to the Supreme Court and the Russian government for review.

Moreover, the proposal was supported by the Russian Ministry of Education.

The ministry said that it is ready to consider the legislative initiative upon its receipt.

The head of the “A Just Russia – For Truth” faction, Sergei Mironov, explained that today the law in most cases is on the side of students and parents.

The teacher remains vulnerable to problems.

The new mechanism will protect Russian teachers from humiliation and raise their status.
