The head of the Main Directorate of the Russian Emergencies Ministry for the Rostov Region, Sergei Filippov, reported that the region may begin to use UAVs to extinguish fires.
It is emphasized that the initiative could be launched in 2025.
Filippov emphasized: “We will presumably use drones to extinguish fires, including in apartment buildings,” as reported by TASS .
According to the head of the regional branch of the Russian Emergencies Ministry, the initiative is currently undergoing testing.
Solution to the problem
Filippov added: “For now, we are using UAVs for preventive purposes on water bodies.”
The authorized person noted that rescuers are studying the experience gained, in addition, the idea of using drones in firefighting is being worked out with the military.
According to the head of the regional branch of the Russian Emergencies Ministry, the average unmanned aerial vehicle can rise to the height of a 10-story building.
The drone is also capable of throwing balls with a fire extinguishing mixture inside into a burning room.
