Rospotrebnadzor reminded that West Nile fever is transmitted by blood-sucking insects. Most often, mosquitoes are carriers.
The disease is most common in countries with hot climates. Therefore, there is a chance of getting it in the southern regions of Russia as well.
According to statistics from Rospotrebnadzor, several cases of the disease have been recorded in Russia, and most of them are imported.
However, the department reminded about measures to prevent fever, which include the use of repellents and fumigators, as well as wearing closed clothing.
