New rules for photo and video recording of traffic violations will come into effect in Russia on September 1.
The provisions of the federal law provide for the installation of stationary and mobile cameras with a control zone of at least 100 meters from the road sign indicating the beginning of a populated area.
In addition, as RIA Novosti writes, the installation of cameras is permitted on roads with a dedicated lane for minibuses, pedestrian crossings, at intersections, dangerous areas, in construction sites and where parking and stopping of vehicles is prohibited.
In addition, the cameras on the roads will be certified and have a certificate of metrological verification.
The installation of cameras falls under the control of authorized executive authorities or road owners in agreement with the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
The new requirements prohibit moving mobile cameras or changing their installation locations during operation.
Starting in September, the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs website will publish the locations of cameras and a list of recorded violations.
