Putin approves deprivation of citizenship for failure to register for military service

Russian President Vladimir Putin has approved a bill according to which the Russian citizenship of an offender may be terminated for failure to register for military service and for failure to fulfill relevant obligations.

It is emphasized that this refers, in particular, to citizens of the country who have acquired a Russian passport.

It follows from the specified regulatory legal act that it is an amendment to the basic laws “On military duty and military service” and “On citizenship of the Russian Federation”, as reported by RIA Novosti .

It is reported that the text of the document signed by the President is available for review.

It is also reported that the above-described decree is intended to combine the processes of registering a person and obtaining a Russian passport.

In accordance with the provisions of the regulatory legal act, representatives of the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs are obliged to provide information about a male citizen of the Russian Federation.

This refers to persons in respect of whom the procedure for issuing Russian citizenship has been carried out.

Such persons are citizens of the Russian Federation for whom it is planned to organize the taking of the oath.
