New details about the murder of the Romanov royal dynasty have become known.
The Russian Prosecutor General has found out why members of the royal family did not die immediately when they were shot.
Russian Prosecutor General Igor Krasnov shared his findings with writer Sergei Minaev. The interview is available on the Rutube service.
According to the expert's findings, members of the Romanov royal family were not immediately killed during the uprising, which, as stated in historical sources, greatly surprised those who took part in the massacre.
The reason for this was hidden in the rich clothes that the royals wore. They were decorated with diamonds, as well as other jewels sewn into them.
This is why bullets, hitting precious stones, could not penetrate them and bounced off the clothes.
As Krasnov clarified, many of the jewels belonging to the royal family were subsequently discovered.
However, the fate of some of the valuables is still unknown, as they were appropriated by other people.
