A Russian endocrinologist has told us about a not-so-healthy, but popular breakfast option.

Dr. Zukhra Pavlova shared a comment on this topic on her Telegram channel.

Bacon and eggs and sausage sandwiches increase the risk of developing dementia, an endocrinologist has warned.

The main harm comes from processed meats. Just two servings of these foods per week increases the risk of dementia by 14%.

The doctor also reminded that processed meat increases the risks associated with cancer and type II diabetes.

The doctor explained that the term “processed meat” refers to products that have undergone additional processing: canning, salting, smoking, etc.

Such products contain nitrates, which are converted into nitrosamines. These organic compounds are what harm the neurons of the brain.

A healthy alternative to bacon, ham, sausages and cold cuts are nuts or beans. The products have an anti-inflammatory effect and reduce the risk of dementia by 20%.
