First Deputy Chairman of the State Duma for Defense Andrei Krasov explained why Russians with many children will not be given a deferment from mobilization.
The deputy named an issue that is more important and has higher priority than everything else. It is because of this that the State Duma will not consider the law on introducing deferments for fathers with many children.
Krasov spoke on this topic during a plenary session, the broadcast of which is available on the Duma website.
According to the parliamentarian, the issue of national security and the country's defense capability plays a leading role.
The deputy believes that a man should first and foremost protect his family, society and the state. Krasov puts the issue of caring for and providing for his own family in second place.
The State Duma member pointed out that even the very composition of the word “man” distributes the priority of tasks: “husband” (warrior) and “rank” (worker, breadwinner).
The lower house of parliament's defence committee has recommended rejecting a bill to defer military service for fathers of three minor children.
Committee members believe that the adoption of this law will have a negative impact on the staffing of the Russian Armed Forces.
Deputy Nina Ostanina, who is a co-author of the initiative, said that she will seek the adoption of the bill.
