When storing crops in country cellars, there is a high risk of the appearance of life-threatening gases.
The formation of these gases occurs due to lack of ventilation or penetration from the soil during the decomposition of organic matter.
In this regard, the Moscow Regional Emergency Rescue Service reminded about the need to observe safety measures when descending into the cellar, RIA Novosti writes.
Before going down into the storage area, it is recommended to ventilate it.
It is also important to make sure in advance that there is no carbon dioxide or methane in the cellar.
Do not turn on lights or light candles in closed spaces.
After airing the cellar, you can carry out a simple test.
To do this, you need to light a candle and lower it in a bucket on a rope into the cellar.
If the flame smokes or the candle goes out, this means that there is not enough oxygen in the storage.
In this case, it is necessary to additionally ventilate the room.
