According to Valentina Matvienko, the Olympic spirit has already disappeared from the competitions.
She made this statement during a press conference, RIA Novosti reports.
Let us recall that Paris is hosting the Olympic Games this year. The sports competition is taking place in the capital of France from July 26 to August 11.
Matviyenko emphasized that, for reasons of principle, she does not watch and does not intend to follow the current Olympic Games.
She justified her decision by the fact that athletes from Russia do not participate in the competition.
The Olympic Games in France are games where the spirit of Olympism has disappeared, Valentina Matvienko emphasized.
According to the expert, the sporting competition has become too politicized. Therefore, it is possible that these Olympic Games will go down in the history of sport as the most shameful.
That's why even the flag was hung upside down during the opening ceremony.
