State Duma deputy Sultan Khamzaev proposed updating birth certificates.
He approached Russian Deputy Prime Minister Tatyana Golikova with this proposal.
Khamzaev initiated an update to the birth certificate by adding a photograph of the child to it, RIA Novosti writes.
In his opinion, photographs of a child at the ages of three, seven and ten will reflect stages of development.
He also suggested improving the new design of the document.
According to Khamzaev, an electronic version of the certificate should be developed on the State Services portal.
The deputy believes that the lack of a photograph reduces the effectiveness of identifying a child and increases the risk of abuse.
Khamzaev said that a child’s photograph could be made into a QR code and uploaded through the government services portal.
He also proposed returning the document to the name “birth certificate”.
