Experts told what innovations are being prepared in Turkey and how this will affect Russian tourists.
Representatives of the Association of Tour Operators of Russia (ATOR) provided a detailed commentary.
Turkey is currently discussing plans to introduce the collection of biometric data from foreigners entering the country.
The authorities of this country are seriously determined to implement this initiative, but there are no specific deadlines yet, as reported on the ATOR website.
Not just fingerprints
According to preliminary estimates, fingerprints will be collected from tourists starting in 2026. But the deadlines may be shifted in the future.
Later, other individual biometric information may be added to fingerprints. For example, voice, face and iris recognition functions will be introduced.
How will this affect Russians?
Experts note that biometrics is primarily associated with the regulation of migration control and is aimed at citizens of Syria, Afghanistan, Tajikistan, and African countries.
The innovations will have almost no effect on ordinary tourists. Everything depends on how the competent authorities will cope with the collection of biometrics.
In Thailand, for example, fingerprints are also taken from those entering. The procedure takes up to 30 seconds and this has not affected the growth of queues. At the same time, the number of people wishing to visit this country is only growing.
