The doctor spoke about a drink that many people mistakenly believe to be safer than vodka.

Gastroenterologist Evgenia Melnikova explained why Russians should reconsider their attitude towards beer.

Many people mistakenly consider beer to be less harmful than, for example, vodka due to its low alcohol content. But the intoxicating drink is no less harmful, writes Lenta.ru .

Foamy beer increases the level of "bad" cholesterol. Regular beer consumption leads to a decrease in the elasticity of blood vessels, narrows their lumen, which leads to a deterioration in the blood supply to organs and tissues.

In addition, the alcoholic drink is known for its diuretic effect. Beer increases the load on the kidneys, which remove useful substances from the body at an accelerated rate.

It is even more harmful when the drink is supplemented with salty snacks (dried fish, chips, French fries, croutons, etc.). In this case, the foam promotes the formation of fat deposits.

Men are not recommended to drink beer because of the large amount of phytoestrogen. It suppresses the production of testosterone, which is why the female hormone estrogen begins to dominate in the body.

Over time, this leads to changes in the figure, the doctor warned. The body takes on feminine contours with rounded hips and expressive breasts.
