Russians have been warned about a cunning and dangerous method of deception.
The targets of this scheme are users of the Telegram messenger, and the end goal is money.
The leading analyst of the Digital Risk Protection department of the FAC.S.T. company Evgeny Egorov shared the details. His words are quoted by RIA Novosti .
First, there is a mass mailing of job offers. Information about potential applicants is taken from stolen databases.
Users who respond to the proposed vacancy create an account on a fraudulent website.
Then the person goes to this resource and starts to perform the proposed tasks. At the same time, the internal account is gradually replenished as the tasks are completed.
But to withdraw the earned funds, you need to pay a commission or simply enter your bank card details supposedly to deposit money.
The effectiveness of the method lies in a number of things. Firstly, such messages can be sent on behalf of a well-known company. For example, HeadHunter.
Secondly, an attractive salary (up to 150 thousand rubles) for the simplest and remote work, which requires a minimum of time.
For example, users are offered to check the “status of the scooter’s equipment” using a phone and a “control terminal”.
This scheme opens up a huge scope for fraudsters in terms of goals: stealing money and personal data, “hijacking” Telegram accounts, distributing malware, etc.
There are two signs of a typical fraudulent scheme: high earnings with minimal effort and prepayment of something (commission, contribution, etc.).
