The Ministry of Finance commented on the possibility of legalizing the sale of alcohol via the Internet.

The department noted that this issue is not currently subject to discussion.

RIA Novosti learned about this on the sidelines of Russian Energy Week, when Deputy Minister of Finance of the Russian Federation Alexey Sazanov asked the corresponding question.

It is noted that the Russian Ministry of Finance has proposed legalizing the sale of alcohol through online stores in order to reduce illegal sales of alcohol online.

However, the Ministry of Health is against such a decision, as it sees a problem with increasing the availability of alcohol to minors.

Therefore, as Sazanov emphasized, at the moment, discussions of this issue are completely frozen, and it is not possible to initiate new negotiations in the near future.

The Ministry of Health's position on the legalization of alcohol via the Internet has not changed, and therefore the agency will block the initiative of the Ministry of Finance.
