Divers from the Russian Emergencies Ministry want to examine the K-27 nuclear submarine, which was sunk in the Kara Sea 32 years ago.

This submarine is one of the most radiation-hazardous objects in the Russian Arctic.

Divers are planning to clear the flooded objects, the Russian Emergencies Ministry reports on its VKontakte page.

According to the head of the Ministry of Emergency Situations, Alexander Kurenkov, the personnel of the Lider center of the Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations will be engaged in examining the sunken submarine.

K-27 in the Kara Sea has been lying at a depth of 31 meters in Stepovogo Bay for the past 32 years.

One of the most radiation-hazardous objects among other sunken objects in the Russian Arctic will become the subject of examination.

The Ministry of Emergency Situations divers will have to work in difficult weather conditions for a month.

The submarine accident occurred in May 1968. After the incident and the death of the crew, the boat was sunk at the entrance to Stepovogo Bay in September 1982.
