Court places blogger Artem Chekalin under house arrest

The court placed blogger Artem Chekalin under house arrest until November 26.

The ex-husband of blogger Lerchek is suspected of illegally transferring 251 million rubles outside of Russia.

Artem Chekalin was given a preventive measure in the form of house arrest for a period of 1 month and 22 days - until November 26, the Telegram channel "Courts of General Jurisdiction of the City of Moscow" reports.

He is accused of committing a crime under paragraphs "a", "b" of Part 3 of Article 193.1 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation.

Chekalin was suspected of currency transactions involving the transfer of funds in foreign currency or Russian currency to the accounts of non-residents using forged documents.

At the same time, Artem Chekalin did not admit guilt in transferring millions of rubles abroad.

The Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs reported that a criminal case has been opened against blogger Lerchek and Artem Chekalin for the illegal withdrawal of funds from Russia using forged documents.

Previously, the Chekalina bloggers were detained in Moscow for 48 hours in connection with a case involving the illegal transfer of 251 million rubles abroad.

The co-founder of the cosmetics trading company Lerchek was detained along with them.
