Cosmonaut Andrei Babkin, who was unable to fly to the ISS, wrote a letter to Vladimir Putin.

He asked the president to conduct an independent examination of his health.

Babkin had been preparing for the flights for a long time, but his turn was constantly postponed, Gazeta.ru reports.

In September 2024, he was removed from flight training for medical reasons. He was later removed from the flight crew.

After receiving the letter from Babkin, the Presidential Executive Office instructed the Roscosmos Cosmonaut Training Center to provide materials for review.

The Central Clinical Hospital reported that on July 12 a consultation was held to assess Babkin’s health condition.

In 2022, Babkin underwent surgery to treat rhinosinusitis, but doctors did not limit his physical activity.

However, the council decided that he was not fit for space flights.

Andrei Babkin was enrolled in the cosmonaut corps in 2010. In 2020, the cosmonaut joined the main crew of ISS-66 along with Anton Shkaplerov.

Due to the filming of the movie "Challenge", he was replaced by actress Yulia Peresild and director Klim Shipenko.
