An athlete from Armenia spoke about the lack of competition from Russian athletes.

According to the silver medalist of the Paris Olympics, this now makes it easier for other athletes to win awards.

The leader of the Armenian national artistic gymnastics team, Artur Davtyan, gave this comment in a conversation with the TASS agency.

Let us recall that since 2022, Russian athletes are forced to compete in international competitions exclusively in a neutral status, without the national anthem and the Russian flag.

Athletes from Russia refused an offer from the International Gymnastics Federation, which is why they had to miss the Summer Olympics, which took place in Paris.

I believe that sport should be kept away from politics,” Davtyan emphasized, noting that most athletes share the same point of view.

The gymnast said he regretted that his Russian colleagues were deprived of the opportunity to take part in international sporting events.

At the same time, he admitted that in the absence of strong competition from Russian athletes, it has become easier to take high places in competitions.

Davtyan noted that he is waiting for the return of the strongest to the international arena.
