A Russian who spent 10 years in American prisons told how he was almost killed behind bars.
Roman Seleznev was included in the list of Russians whom the US authorities exchanged for prisoners held in the Russian Federation.
After returning to Russia, the former prisoner spoke about the conditions of detention in American prisons.
On Channel One, Seleznev called the Americans' treatment of prisoners "very bad."
“Initially, they put me in solitary confinement <…> There were a couple of times when they almost killed me,” the man said.
Seleznev said that he had changed many prisons over 10 years. The conditions were bad everywhere. This applies to both the cells themselves and the attitude of the administration and guards.
Favorite trick: wake the prisoner every two hours and force him to check in. Seleznev added that after two days he can't believe he's returned to his homeland.
The former prisoner admitted that he still experiences fear of waking up and realizing that he is behind bars.
US intelligence agencies detained the Russian in the Maldives in 2014. He was found guilty of cyber fraud and sentenced to 27 years, of which he served ten.
