A new bill concerning debt-relief companies has been introduced to the State Duma.
Parliamentarians have come forward with an initiative to restrict advertising for these organizations.
Vice Speaker of the Federation Council Nikolai Zhuravlev reported this on his Telegram channel.
As Zhuravlev emphasized, Russians should know that they have the right to initiate bankruptcy proceedings absolutely free of charge, without resorting to the services of intermediaries.
He noted that recently many companies have appeared that offer complete debt relief for a lot of money, thereby misleading people.
At the same time, advertising for such companies is commonplace, which allows them to profit from people who find themselves in difficult life situations.
Zhuravlev emphasized that the bill proposed by the authors of the initiative is intended to stop the ongoing commercial arbitrariness.
In particular, if the document is adopted, advertisers will be required to provide information about free initiation of bankruptcy proceedings and their consequences. A ban on placing debt relief guarantees in advertising will also be introduced.
