The State Duma has come up with a new proposal regarding couples who are planning to get divorced.
Spouses may be required to visit a psychologist before a divorce.
The authors of the bill, State Duma deputy Igor Antropenko from United Russia and Federation Council senator Dmitry Perminov, put forward this initiative, RIA Novosti reports.
It is noted that it is proposed to apply measures to two categories of families:
- raising minor children;
- where one of the spouses is against the dissolution of the marriage.
The explanatory note attached to the document recalled how settlements are currently carried out between family members where one of the family members is against divorce.
Then the court may take measures to reconcile the spouses, setting a three-month period for this. Thus, now judicial measures include only the appointment of a waiting period.
The new bill may introduce an obligation for the court to take all measures to resolve the conflict between spouses. In particular, the parties to the conflict will be offered to provide "social and psychological services during the dissolution of marriage."
