The family of the People's Artist of the USSR has spoken out about the decision to "revive" Yuri Nikulin on the movie screen.
The footage of the actor was created using artificial intelligence for the film "Manyunya. Adventures in Moscow".
Nikulin's grandson, also named Yuri, shared a comment with the portal " Abzats ".
He reported that the film's creators had agreed on all issues with the relatives of the deceased artist.
First they were shown the original version and only after approval were the shots inserted into the final version of the film.
Nikulin's relatives positively assessed what they saw and did not interfere with the use of Yuri Vladimirovich's image.
Nikulin Jr. added that his wife and children watched Sarik Andreasyan’s film: “They liked it.”
However, the public came out with criticism on the Internet. Some viewers did not appreciate the "revival" of the people's artist.
They considered this decision immoral and accused the creators of the film of “insulting the name of a great man.”
The actor's grandson noted that it is impossible to make an absolutely identical copy of Yuri Vladimirovich using a neural network. He also added in response to criticism that "you can't please everyone."
