The 51-year-old filmmaker is accused of acting as an intermediary in the transfer of a bribe.
Producer, director, actor and screenwriter Alexey Petrukhin has been detained.
This information was confirmed on Thursday, September 5, by law enforcement agencies, TASS reports.
Petrukhin is accused of acting as an intermediary in a bribe on an especially large scale (more than 1 million rubles). The details of the case have not yet been disclosed.
All that is known is that Petrukhin was given a preventive measure in the form of a ban on certain actions.
The producer's creative biography includes the film "Viy", based on the story by Nikolai Gogol. The film became the highest-grossing in 2014, collecting 1.2 billion rubles at the box office.
At the same time, Petrukhin's career also included unsuccessful projects. For example, the film "The Secret of the Dragon Seal" with Arnold Schwarzenegger and Jackie Chan failed at the box office. With $50 million spent, the project collected $14 million.
The Cinema Fund allocated 300 million rubles for the creation of the film. Later, they demanded that these funds be returned.
