With current ticket prices, Russian theatre is only accessible to wealthy people.
This opinion was expressed by Nikolai Tsiskaridze within the framework of the educational marathon “Knowledge. First”.
The People's Artist of Russia does not agree with this arrangement and advocates for lowering ticket prices to the Bolshoi Theater and other cultural institutions, RIA Novosti reports.
Tsiskaridze emphasized that theater attendance would change dramatically if ticket prices were reduced.
Today, the theatre is only accessible to wealthy people. Tsiskaridze admitted that he is sad to see half-empty halls.
The artist recalled that Russia’s leading theatres receive funding from the state budget.
Therefore, they should become more accessible to the general public, believes the People's Artist of the Russian Federation.
He cited the example of the Bolshoi Theatre, which receives about 5 billion roubles from the state treasury.
According to Tsiskaridze, “this is not a small amount of money,” so the Bolshoi Theater should create a separate program for those who want to get involved in art.
