Two-time Olympic champion Evgeni Plushenko shared his story about the beginning of his career in figure skating.
He told the YouTube channel yanapozitive37 that at one time he collected bottles because he didn’t have money for food.
However, as he noted, there was no money – this is not a business.
He explained that he came from Volgograd to St. Petersburg alone, without his parents, and encountered difficulties.
Plushenko also recalled how figure skater Anton Sikharulidze once saw him in torn clothes.
The next day, Sikharulidze handed him a bag with his things.
A colleague's kind act inspired Plushenko to help others.
I decided that I would also help those in need,” he added.
He opened the figure skating school "Angels of Plushenko", which supports young figure skaters.
Plushenko ended his sports career in March 2017.
He is a two-time Olympic champion and two-time silver medalist.
