Experts have calculated how many Russians have fallen victim to scammers using a Trojan virus.
The malware fakes push notifications from banks, thereby misleading people.
Experts interviewed by journalists shared this information with RIA Novosti .
According to experts, thousands of Russians have already become victims of fraudsters using this software.
The reason for the widespread distribution of the virus is the ease of its development.
As the coordinator of the Moshelovka platform, Evgeniya Lazareva, clarified, the use of Trojan programs is not new, therefore, since their introduction, several thousand Russians have already suffered from the actions of fraudsters.
According to Lazareva, the danger is that many Russians fall for the scammers' actions more than once. She noted that some citizens have fallen into the trap twice or even three times.
It is noted that the scheme works as follows. A push notification is sent to the victim's phone, after which the person is called back by a fraudster posing as an employee of a financial institution.
He claims that the funds in the citizen's account are in danger and forces the victim to provide secret login information for the user's personal account.
