The agency named the reason why Telegram and WhatsApp* did not work in the Russian Federation.
Once the messengers were up and running, representatives of Roskomnadzor (RKN) made a statement about the reasons for the failure.
According to the agency, users encountered problems using services due to a DDoS attack on Russian telecom operators, RIA Novosti reports.
Experts repelled the attack. Now all services are operating normally, RKN representatives informed.
A DDoS attack is a form of influence on the operation of web systems with the aim of disabling them or making it difficult for ordinary users to access them.
According to the Downdetector service, the majority of complaints about the work of Telegram and WhatsApp* came from users from Moscow, St. Petersburg, Kazan, Voronezh and Novorossiysk.
In many cases, it was about mobile versions. Some users also reported problems with the web versions of messengers.
